Myeloid blasts are the precursor cells of the myeloid cell line: monocytes, neutrophils, eosinophils and basophils. They are round and have a high nuclear-cytoplasmic ratio. This poster provides an overview of the different types of blasts that can be found on a blood smear.

In this brochure Sysmex’s comprehensive solutions from screening to diagnosis and from treatment to monitoring in haemato-oncology are described, including haematology, clinical flow cytometry and molecular genetics.

This clinical case reports the disease progression of a patient hospitalised due to a SARS-CoV-2 infection. The patient’s condition worsens significantly over time, ultimately leading to the development of an acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), a common but very severe complication in respiratory tract infections (such as COVID-19).

This case report gives insights on how a severe COVID-19 infection is reflected in the complete and differential blood count and how basic and advanced haematologic parameters can assist with the patient management on an intensive care unit.
